Small Nuggets
These mid-range Bark Nuggets are small sized fir bark chips that have the fines removed sizes range from 1 inch to 1-1/2 inch. This material is a very clean and formal look, giving small shrubs a beautiful backdrop.
Use the small Bark Nuggets as mulch to allow water and air to penetrate deep into the soil, and significantly reduce any windblown weeds from growing. Put it down 3 to 4 inches deep over landscape fabric for the perfect weed barrier system.
Dark Fine Fir
Fine Dark Fir Bark is an aged bark that is screened to a 3/8th inch minus size. It is stable and dark in color, providing moisture holding properties and a more neutral pH than Fresh Fir Bark.
This all-purpose bark can be blended into soils or potting mixes to add organic matter, or be applied as a mulch to landscape beds, 1 to 2 inches deep. The dark color provides a natural look to landscape beds. When blending into soils, fertilize at rates recommended for the plant's needs.
Cedar Chips
Cedar Chips are cedar wood pieces or flakes that range from 1/2 inch to 3 inches in length. Fines have been removed to maximize drain ability and durability.
Cedar Chips are the ideal long-lasting wood pathway material to fill muddy areas, reduce weeds and look great.
Mini Nuggets
These Mini-Bark Nuggets are small fir bark chips that have the fines removed sizes range from 3/8 inch to 1 inch. This material is a very clean and formal look, giving small shrubs a beautiful backdrop.
Use the Mini-Bark Nuggets as mulch to allow water and air to penetrate deep into the soil, and significantly reduce any windblown weeds from growing. Put it down 3 to 4 inches deep over landscape fabric for the perfect weed barrier system.

Managing Mulches in the Landscape
Before covering an area with mulch, bring the site to its desired grade. If annual weeds have been a problem, consider treating the area with a pre-emergent herbicide before mulching.
Mulches applied for winter protection should be laid down in late fall, once the soil has cooled but before it has frozen. Summer mulches are normally applied in mid-spring, once the soil has warmed enough for active root growth.
Mulches that are left around trees and shrubs year-round should be pulled away from the trunks in the fall to allow proper hardening of the bark.
An organic or mineral mulch must thoroughly cover an area to a uniform depth to be most effective. Low or bare spots are prone to weed problems. Uneven mulch does not properly insulate the soil.
Although there is no supermulch, knowledge of the characteristics and uses of different mulches allows a gardener or landscaper to use mulches to benefit the entire landscape.
